Underdown trails are dried out and really fast right now. A pre-ride of the long race course confirmed it at 15 miles. 4 or 5 laps would be possible in the 10-hour race depending on temperatures. The winning 6-hour racer will do 3 laps if it's cool or 2 laps if it's over 80 like today.
Estimates of the short course at 5 miles look accurate, but the loop is all big hills do don't expect to get dizzy from going around and around.
Dragged trails I and L yesterday. A little hand work remains to totally clean up after logging.
ReplyDeleteCut a stump and built a berm on LL today.
Cut a tree and a stump on U. Mowed from Underdown Lake to the trail wizard on U.
ReplyDeleteWent after trail L with chainsaw, mower and Rogue Hoe today. All is needs is a visit from the leaf blower after a little rain knocks down the dust.
ReplyDeleteI'll be coming up from the flatlands with a couple other folks who have never had the opportunity to get punished by the Underdown. Possible rain tomorrow and Saturday evening. Might that affect anything?
ReplyDeleteTrails that got logged are all buffed out now. Mowing, blowing and hoeing done over Heartbreak Ridge, and rocks got toned down on K.
ReplyDeleteThe weather forecast looks inconclusive right now. A few showers won't stop anything. Underdown trails can take some rain, but a Saturday evening storm could dampen the party.
ReplyDeleteExcellent. I'm assuming we can register saturday morning? We'll be there.
ReplyDeleteRegister, camp, jump in the river . . . whatever you want on Saturday.
